Mountain road

Road to Passo del Duca (Jul 01, 2004)

July in Alta Valle Pesio (Italy). Old military road crossing from Valle Pesio to France and the valleys opening on the Mediterranean sea. The road passes from an high pass called “Passo del Duca” (pass of the Duke), which is the portal to a carstic highland called “Conca delle Carsene” (2,000m altitude = 6,000ft). The photo was taken from the “Col du Prel” which is right before “Passo del Duca”. The blue color of the mountains in the background is due to scattered light from the clouds and fog that were rising in the valley because of the summer heat.
