Before the snow

Plum Island, MA (March 24, 2007)
Very cold March day, at Plum Island. Still sunny when we left the city, by the time we arrived at the beach parking lot the sun was all but gone behind an uniform cover of clouds. The thing at Plum island is that in winter they close most of the parking lots, so you have to walk for a good 30 minutes to reach the sea shore. So when we got there it was much colder than when we started, and very windy. Good light for portraits, though... the right amount to avoid strong shadows but still provide some depth to the landscape.
When we went back to the car it was snowing...

Snowing at the beach? That’s just wrong. Very nice lighting, though.
Is this the same woman we saw a few posts ago ? I think they work very good in black & white. I got to go to the beach on a cloudy day and work on portaits.
I usually don`t like to place the subject dead center, but it works here, and that`s a reminder to break the rules sometimes.

what a lovely portrait, there is an air of expectancy here that lingers in her half smile ... beautiful!
