I think its very important to restore and take care of old buildings. It gives those who live close to it something to relate to. It`s solid proof of their history, and things change so fast these days that to watch an old building, and fantazice about it`s history (or even better: remember) can be very relaxing...
Well, I do hate those dishes hanging out of ancient buildings like that.... Great shot, anyway!
I wonder if the reluctance to renovate the old and historical in Europe is because of the tremendous amount of history that permeates the culture. The history of the US is only a few hundred years vs thousands in Europe.
Great interplay of light, shadow and line. This image is complicated without being cluttered. I like the various shades of brown also. I wish we were better at preserving, conserving, and reusing in this country. It’s great to see the old coexist with the new.
This is one of the things I love about Europe. I wish we did keep the old around more here in the States. I think we miss out on things when we destroy our history.
