Saluzzo is an ancient town in Piemonte (northern Italy, not far from Torino), founded by a population living in the italian Alps and eventually conquered by the romans in 123 BC. During the middle ages and the
renaissance it became an important center, capital of a small independent state. It is a beautiful little town to visit, with its characteristic medieval and renaissance architecture, among which the castle, the gothic cathedral and the Church of St. John (the belfry in the photo). The wall on the left side of the image is the base of the city tower, and the guy sitting in the shadow was the custodian selling the tickets for the building. And reading a book while waiting for somebody to show up in the hot summer day...
