When I was a kid the italian state television used to broadcast, on the morning of January 1st, the New Year’s concert, performed for an audience of millions all over the world by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. I am wondering if they still broadcast it. I remember waking up and preparing for the traditional New Year lunch at the notes of the “Blue Danube Waltz”, waiting for my grandparents and uncles to arrive.
It doesn’t matter if there are millions of people listening to your music, or not. Like this guy that was playing his piano for an audience of one (with me and my wife peeking through the open door), what counts is that we like what we do, and that we enjoy doing it. May you find happiness in the new year that will soon come.
