From La Serena to Las Campanas, it is a 2 hours drive along the “Panamericana” (the highway that follows the entire Chilean coast) and then a secondary unpaved road that climbs the arid plains and mountains in the Norte Chico. I took this image from the darkened windows of the shuttle that was driving us up to the observatory, while I was left wondering the final destination of these power lines, only human fixture in the arid, desolated landscape.
