I don’t want this to become the “Crane beach blog”, but Crane beach is a place where I love to go back, from time to time, and shoot. Some time ago I told Alfred of
thelocomotives that sometimes I need change to get inspiration. It is true, but I forgot to mention that the opposite is also true. Going back over and over again to the same place help to see things that I would otherwise miss. When I am in a new place I tend to get overwhelmed by the new visual stimuli. I shoot a lot, I get new ideas, but I tend to be superficial. It is only after some time, maybe several visits, that I can really absorbe the place, reduce my pace to the point in which I can see the details, and get really at easy in photographing them. It is like when you meet a new person: there is the excitement of a new encounter, but one needs time to know each other.
So, Crane beach is an old friend where I can go for a walk on the wet sand. Look for dragons buried in the sea. Follow the footsteps of a seagull. Read the drawings in the sand.
