Again a photo from the “Prelude de Paris” ensamble gallery, with one of the lady and her dark violin (I like the contrast between her pale skin and the dark wood of the instrument). The article I found mentioning the group says that they are all students in a local Conservatory, and that they play together in the streets to help financing their studies. I know a very good violinist that had done that for quite a long time. Born in the US, she studied with very renown music teachers in Boston. She could have easily landed with a job in the Boston Symphony Orchestra (or some other famous orchestras in US) but she decided to look for a more challenging life, and left the US to go to France and play in a Quartet. For several years she played in the Metro to maintain herself and her two children while still studying music. Now she is teaching in a school music in Paris, and playing with her quartet. Her two children are very good violin and cello young players.
