Yesterday night we went to Kendall theatre to see “
Diario de Motocicleta”, the movie by Walter Salles on the trip the young Ernesto Guevara and his friend Alberto Granado made through latin America. This is much before Castro, the cuban revolution and Ernesto Guevara becoming “El Che”. Inspired by diary that he wrote during the trip, and by a book later written by Alberto Granado, it is the story of the spiritual growth of two young middle class Argentinean men that discovers themselves by experiencing the beauty, injustices, suffering and vitality of their own continent, which they only knew from their books.
Today is the anniversary of the
death of Che Guevara in Bolivia. If you look carefully the photo, you will notice a Che Guevara sticker on the car window, next to a Bolivarian party sticker. The same car has a Jesus sticker on its trunk. If you don’t know anything about Venezuela today you may think it is a contradiction. It is not. The photo was taken in La Parroquia, Merida, last Christmas.
