Alone

Crane beach, MA (Jun 26, 2005)
I don’t know who he was. He arrived at the end of the tempest. He was alone. He took off his shoes and started walking in the direction of the sunset. Slowly. One step after another on the thin line where the water from the ocean mixes with the wet sand after the rain. Sometimes he stopped, looking afar. Maybe he was thinking of somebody, imagining her walking out of the mist. Coming back to him, now that the storm was over. She didn’t come. He put back his shoes and left, in silence as he arrived. While the waves of the ocean erased his footprints as if they never existed.

Your narrative and your image fit perfectly once again. I particularly like the contrast and how it highlights him. He really looks like he is contemplating lost love....
This photo creates an incredibly strong sense of isolation. Lovely that there are no other discernible shapes in the photo besides the man.
I like how you’ve captured the isolation, the drab, dreary day, his wistful look, and the quiet of the shore. It all adds up to a wonderful image, and a wonderful story to match.

it’s a seashore thing, i believe: the silence - despite the sound of the shifting sand and the whispering foam and the hollow screech of the gulls - is a true and contemplative silence.

Standing alone on the beach, pants rolled up in vain, and holding shoes in hand can be a very solitary and moving time. You’ve really captured the feeling of that moment here.
You explain it like you were there but nobody was able to see you. This is so good. Maybe it is the concentration of you and as a result for us to see your good compositions. I think also...one of the best part of your photos are the integrations with descriptions. It makes me to think, deeper than I could able to do. Good job...
