for some reason, a small, poignant memorial like this (i have never seen it, mind) touches my heart more keenly than the sprawling labyrinth of concrete recently erected in berlin: humanity and equality must be personal, individual convictions to have true meaning.
beautiful image, massimo.
This image is powerful enough on its own. Add in your words and I’m blown away. Heart-piercing.
I was at the memorial last Sunday; going down the stairs to the courtyard is quite impressive, as is the inner chamber.
Its a beautiful memorial. I love the way the french do things. I found it difficult to comment the first time I visited this image - I find it difficult to face atrocities, which is what makes a place like this special.... its always there.
Its an excellent image, the exposure is perfect.
Beautiful photo with lots of impact! I really like the perspective.
As the previous comments say so well, the content is quite powerful. As for the photo itself, I don’t recall seeing many initerior shots from you (except for your wonderful portraits) so this is a nice change of pace. Your exposure is quite effective, capturing the amber glow on the walls; and the composition, with the dominant wall on the right, rather than shooting straight down the middle, is well done.
Outstanding image; and what a compelling way to bring home the enormity of the Holocaust, with the row upon row of small quartz crystals. Thanks for sharing this.
Massimo, The lines are very powerful here leading us into the background darkness with its (possibly) redeeming point of light. Can we find hope in a memorial that commemorates such horror?
This is an exquisite shot, really captures the sacred feeling you describe. The pinpoint of light at the far end makes for some interesting analogies too. And thanks as always for the informative description.
Wow. I love the lighting and lines here. Thanks very much for the story behind it, too. Very moving.
excellent perspective and great contrast and textures too!
