yes, this is the photo that I love the most...the first dragon I ever saw...the blues are beautiful, and the dragon might be swimming on his back, watching that blue sky, with his spiny tail floating along behind him...
Wow! The depth of the blue in this picture is stunning and the pieces of ice provide a beautiful contrast.
This, of coure, is the Loch Ness monster, having decided to move from frigid Scotland to the warm Atlantic. Lovely low key picture.
Massimo you conjure up a wonderful image of the mystical past. How did this dragon meet its end? Was the battle against nature or a mortal enemy it was unable to overcome?
great colour!
Massimo, nice composition. The simple subject elements are balanced nicely and the blues are stunning.
Wonderful treatment of this scene. I love the choice of working exclusively with blue hues here - creates tons of mood. Composition is right on the money, and the slight blur/glow is the perfect touch. Very well executed.
Almost too dark...but “almost too...” is sometimes where perfection can be found, and I think you’ve achieved the perfect density for the mood of this shot, with the spine of Smaug just kissing the surface of the water at dusk. Great.
My first take on this photo was in fact darker, and it looked right on the screen. When the next morning I checked it again it was suddenly too dark (I was fooled by working in a dark environment where my screen appeared brighter than it was). So, getting the right balance in setting the luminosity of low key images is very tricky. I believe that the image is still to dark for print, and I will need to boost it a little before sending it to the printer.
you really take wonderful photos. this one looks magical. the blue tones are just right. good job!
I wouldn’t make it too much brighter Massimo. You might start to lose some of the mystery of the shot. Those blues are amazing, by the way.
