Still winter

It is still winter in the northern hemisphere. Right now I should be at my dentist studio by I had to move my appointment because it is so freaking cold here in Boston that there was no way I could arrive there at a reasonable time. Yesterday night there was yet another blizzard, with strong wind and more snow. When I woke up the snow accumulation was not that bad, but the low temperature (-11C with a wind-chill of -21C, i.e. 10F feeling like -6F) has covered everything with a uniform layer of ice. I couldn’t open the car door, completely sealed by an unbreakable skin of ice (I tried to melt it with some hot water, to no avail as the water was freezing rapidly again once in contact with the cold car surface). The snow has also drifted in the cracks of my house door, and it took me a while to close it again once opened. So here I am, waiting for the temperature to go up a little before trying to get to work.

The photo above was taken in another freezing day, in the little village in the italian Alps where my sister live. Both her and my parents have a house right next to this river. I took the photo one month ago, while I was visiting for a few days.
