Gavidia, Venezuela (Dec 22, 2004)

As I have already mentioned in my Venezuela Diary, this December we rented a car to visit some off-the-beaten-path villages in the Venezuelan Andes. We ended up in a village called Gavidia, at the end of a valley along a narrow and long road. On our way back, we spent a good half hour behind a pickup with three young kids sitting in the empty load area. While I was driving, Mayli tried to take some pictures of them. When they realized that, they started to play peek-a-boo with her, hiding and jumping each time she was raising the camera. This is the best result of this “session”. I like the “Street photography” feel of this photo. It reminds me a bit of Nitsa non-photography style, what do you think?

Wonderful candid shot. It almost has a pinhole feel to it also. I could just imagine how it was with those children, and it made me smile. Tell Mayli, well done.

The magenta color, the ray of light in the upper part of the photograph, made me think it was taken 50 years ago...The faces...what a cool shot!
Frame it!!!

This has the feel of an old movie. The composition is interesting with the car at an angle and driving into space.... Kids are having fun..... love the color.

I like the subject matter and the warmth of this photo (created by the sun on top of the kids’s heads and the brownish tone). I’m not sure why it reminds you of my style, but than again, I have no objective idea of what my style is...

Yes, this has a strong “Nitsa feel.” But even more, this has the strong story-telling capacity about it. Like a short story about the beautiful half forgotten memories of youth.
