Erosion

Arizona (Jan 19, 2005)
Flying over southern Arizona. There is a point in which the desert ends, abruptly, in a chasm eroded by rivers like the sand at high tide. The terrein is level until the last minute, and then drops in canyons. The view from 30,000 ft is quite amazing and surprises me every time I go to Tucson and manage to get a window seat.

Thanks for the explanation - this is so abstracted and on so massive a scale it’s impossible to imagine what it is.
And I can see trails.......how fascinating to view our world from this height so much. We really do live amongst absolute beauty.
i wouldn’t have guessed what it is if i didn’t read the explanation. at first i was wondering if it were a footprint...or something like that. hehehe. great shot!

Such an interesting and pretty pattern. Everytime I see your airplane shots I want to try it, but then I always fall asleep during the flights. : )

looks like someone’s been taking bites out of the desert! reminded me of Yann Arthus-Bertrand style photos
